I tend to verbalize as I read and I think this slows me down. An average page (say, 350 words) takes me about a minute and a half or more to read. If I try to speed up, I don’t remember much.
OKAY—I’ve been reading one or two books a week for many years, so I’m not new to this. But my speed never increases.
